2012年4月6日，總部設於美國奧克拉荷馬州(Oklahoma)的Lektron, Inc.(下稱Lektron)於美國奧克拉荷馬州北區地方法院指控The Sloan Company, Inc.、d/b/a SloanLED, Inc. (下合稱Sloan)、iLight Technologies, Inc.(下稱iLight)以及Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions, Inc.(下稱Philips)等4家公司所生產的LED產品侵害其專利權。
原告Lektron同日以3件訴狀分別對被告Sloan、iLight以及Philips提出告訴，根據訴狀中所述，原告Lektron引用商業流理論(stream of commerce)，認為被告Sloan、iLight及Philips透過直接或間接的方式，將侵犯其專利權的產品安排於商業流中，而商業流導向奧克拉荷馬州地方法院的管轄區域內。依據28 U.S.C. §1391(b)(c)(d)及1400(b)奧克拉荷馬州北區地方法院具有管轄權。
本案的系爭專利有1件US6,361,186(下稱186)。專利186於2000年提出申請2002年獲證。據本網站調查，186是由發明人轉讓給Lektron Industrial Supply, Inc.，再由Lektron Industrial Supply, Inc. 轉讓給原告Lektron。原告Lektron在訴狀中聲明擁有186的專利權。
US6,361,186： “Simulated neon light using led's” (使用LED模擬霓虹燈)
根據原告Lektron在訴狀中指稱，被告Sloan所生產SloanLED’s ColorLine產品、iLight所生產的iLight’s Plexineon White and Plexineon Color lighting產品以及Philips所生產的Philips’eW Accent MX Powercore and iColor Accent MX Powercore Lighting 產品(以下合稱被控產品)，均至少侵犯186的claim 第1項。
原告Lektron在3份訴狀中分別引用：被告Sloan持有於2009年獲證的美國專利US7,604,376(下稱376)，376於審查時186為官方引證文件之一；被告iLight持有申請號US10/872,861(下稱861)的美國專利，861在說明書中提及186的技術；以及被告Philips的上游公司Color Kinetics, Inc.持有的US6,965,205美國專利(下稱205)，在205的審查過程中186為其引證文件之一。原告Lektron據以認定被告Sloan、iLight以及Philips均在知情的情況下，任由被控產品繼續且故意侵權(willful conduct)。

原告Lektron請求奧克拉荷馬州北區地方法院判決4名被告侵害系爭專利，請求判決被告對於侵權行為進行損害賠償，並且依35 U.S.C. §284請求法院判定被告為故意侵權(willful conduct)，並進行加重損害賠償。
Lektron是一家生產LED照明設備的公司，長期鑽研LED照明設備的創新技術。原告Lektron並非首次以系爭專利對被告進行控訴，可視為LED照明設備領先廠商間長期的技術角力及專利競技。 (735字；表1)
