2015年3月6日美國微軟（Microsoft）之子公司Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLC指控日本手機製造商京瓷Kyocera侵犯七項專利，有關Android智慧型手機或平板機使用的電源管理、顯示感測、地理定位、文字簡訊等技術專利。根據法院文件，微軟要求西雅圖聯邦法院對京瓷侵權產品下達禁止輸美命令。

Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLC是微軟公司全資子公司，專責從事專利授權業務。目前，微軟公司擁有6萬件美國專利，再加上併購諾基亞(Nokia)所取得近1500件美國專利，儼然成為智慧型行動裝置智財IP霸主。

目前Android智慧型手機市占高達80%，Apple的iOS系統也有15%，反而微軟Windows僅占全球智慧型手機市場3%，Windows在平板的市占率也只有2%。

過去，微軟Windows Phone向OEM硬體廠商收取授權費約5至15美元之間，也因此給予Google的Android免費系統一個崛起的機會。雖然，2014年4月3日微軟營運長Terry Myerson在舊金山舉行的開發者會議（Build conference）宣布，微軟將免費提供Windows OS這套軟體給螢幕9吋以下的手機、平板及物聯網使用，也就是說Windows將開放9吋以下裝置不收取使用授權費，但是還是須事先取得微軟同意。

本案微軟指控七項專利不知是否含在微軟免費專利授權方案之中？ (446字；表2)
