2012年06月04日，原告美國凱捷國際科技有限公司(以下簡稱KaiJet)向美國喬治亞州北部聯邦地方法院對台灣廠商同星實業(以下簡稱Action Star) 提出一項專利有效性的確認之訴，有關於KVM切換系統用於一組鍵盤及/或一個滑鼠可切換以控制多組電腦主機及/或螢幕。
本案系爭專利US8,099,535名稱為用以切換KVM系統之方法(Method for converting a KVM system)，於2009年08月20日申請，2012年01月17日獲准。發明人為鄭經煒(Ching-Wei Cheng)，專利權人為被告Action Star。系爭專利之申請專利範圍其請求項共10項，獨立項有2項(第1、6項)。
根據原告KaiJet在訴狀中指稱，認為其所設計、製造、販賣之型號JUC#100/200/400 KM switch系列產品並未侵害系爭專利。
KaiJet Technology International Limited設立於美國喬治亞州(Georgia)，為一家製作電腦周邊產品之公司，主要產品包括J5 Creat系列產品、外接式顯示卡、連結擴充基座、多埠型USB 集線器及鍵盤滑鼠纜線等。
同星實業股份有限公司(Action Star Enterprise Co., Ltd.)成立於1990年，設立於臺灣，為一家製作電腦周邊產品之公司，主要產品包括USB相關產品(集線器, 讀卡機等...), OTG 產品, KVM切換器, FM Transmitter等。(621字；表2)

(2A) judging whether a first computer host is needed to be operated, if yes, going to step (2B), if no, going to step (2D);
